With congestion growing and funding for capacity improvements declining, the need for quality traffic engineering services is substantially growing. From the rehabilitation of aging and deteriorating urban infrastructures to the need for implementing advanced Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic engineering services are the most cost effective solutions for maximizing today's investment in surface transportation. GEC has the capability to effectively address and implement solutions for a variety of transportation related issues.
GEC's knowledgeable engineers have extensive experience in Coordinated Signalization Systems, Advanced Traffic Management Systems, Incident Management, Congestion Mitigation, Demand Reduction Strategies, Master Plan Development and Updates, Interstate and Road Sign Design, Parking Facility Analysis and Design, and many other areas in transportation systems.
GEC has been continually recognized for its expertise in the traffic engineering field and has completed numerous traffic operation studies for both local and state governments. Always on the leading edge of new technologies, GEC assisted the Capitol Regional Planning Commission (CRPC) in the development of its traffic engineering requirements, which were the cornerstone for the design of Baton Rouge's Advanced Traffic Management and Emergency Operations Center. This development led to multi-agency teaming with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LDOTD) and other governmental agencies to share information and begin the implementation of ITS technology across the state. GEC was awarded the first of several retainer contracts to implement ITS technology statewide. At the same time, GEC continued to serve the public by providing Statewide Traffic Signal Installation and Interstate Sign Design services to LDOTD. GEC has also completed traffic impact studies for private developments and interest groups, as well as for city governments.
