GIS is a powerful database that allows us to not only organize geographically referenced datasets, but also link features  to virtually any other database, giving us the ability to view, access, query and analyze those data in ways that traditional databases cannot.  The powerful capabilities modern GIS software provides all the functionality of traditional relational databases coupled with intuitive, easy to use interfaces.

GEC has provided GIS data management services for many large-scale projects including a state-wide cultural resources database, an inventory of all water wells within the surge limits of hurricanes Katarina and Rita, and the Louisiana TIMED Managers, to name a few. These projects typically include a customized Website developed by GEC so that data can be accessed easily from any desktop.
