GEC was contracted to conduct a 2-year project to implement a base-wide GIS for Ft. Leonard Wood. Tasks include a base-wide aerial photography flight to produce contours suitable for a FEMA floodplain analysis and for locating additional GIS features; roads and electrical systems identification and mapping, incorporation of all existing data including scans of hard copy CADD drawings, electronic CADD files, various GIS layers and shapefiles, and older photography; ground verification using GPS of existing data; and finally collection of all missing or incomplete data sets using GPS and the new aerial photography. All data was formatted in an SDSFIE-compliant geodatabase with over 400 feature classes. All feature classes must meet the National Map Accuracy Standards and will have associated FGDC-compliant metadata.
