Columbus, Indiana Riverfront Development Plan

Client: City of Columbus

Completion Date:

Known nationally for the quality of its architecture, the City of Columbus looked to the Corps of Engineers and GEC to provide a plan for its riverfront.  Plans included increasing investment in the central core of the city, adjacent to the East Fork of the White River.  In addition to planning office, hotel, residential, and retail space at the riverfront, parklands and public art displays were proposed in order to tie the area together in terms of a connection to the downtown and to the river.  Components of the plan included site and land use analyses, programming, urban planning, land use recommendations, recreational facilities cost/benefit analysis, and cost estimates.
