GEC acquires Florida coastal firm

G.E.C., Inc. (GEC), a leading provider of engineering, planning, and environmental services, announced today that the company has completed its acquisition of Coastal Technology Corporation (Coastal Tech), an engineering firm specializing in coastal engineering, planning and design.

The acquisition of Coastal Tech greatly enhances GEC’s capabilities in coastal restoration and engineering, and further diversifies and broadens GEC’s market presence as Coastal Tech brings expertise in coastal engineering, geology and coastal zone management. With the addition of Coastal Tech’s offices in Vero Beach, Palm Bay, and Sarasota, Florida; and in Galveston and Austin, Texas, the acquisition significantly extends GEC’s national reach. GEC will continue to operate Coastal Tech with all employees retained and offices remaining open.

Bob Boagni, P.E., GEC’s President, said, “This acquisition is a key element in GEC’s strategy to become a more comprehensive coastal firm and enhances our ability to help communities nationwide with their coastal restoration efforts.”

Michael Walther, P.E., President of Coastal Tech, said, “Joining forces with GEC is an opportunity to expand our services, and offer a broader array of capabilities to our clients.”

Coastal Tech brings to GEC over 30 years of national experience providing a wide range of engineering services on shoreline restoration, marine and other coastal zone projects.
