GEC strengthens its leadership team with addition of Bijan Sharafkhani, P.E.

G.E.C., Inc., a national engineering firm specializing in transportation, environmental, planning, coastal, infrastructure, and industrial development with a client base consisting of public and private-sector organizations across the United States, announced today the hiring of Bijan Sharafkhani, P.E. as Vice President of its Environmental Industrial Division. Mr. Sharafkhani joins the firm with 40 years of experience in civil and environmental related fields. Most recently, Sharafkhani served as Confidential Advisor to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) Secretary and advised on policy decisions, permitting, enforcement, regulatory and technical issues, legislative matters, and on short and long term planning.

“The appointment of Mr. Sharafkhani as Vice President of our Environmental Industrial division will position GEC to provide exceptional services to the industrial sector of Louisiana,” said Johnny Bradberry, GEC President. “Mr. Sharafkhani will strengthen our leadership team and provide support to senior leaders seeking opportunities in the industrial market. His advisory skills regarding local issues affecting Louisiana’s environment will be a valuable tool in supporting our environmental and industrial clients’ needs.”

Mr. Sharafkhani has served in various managerial and technical capacities in solid wastes, hazardous waste remediation, Small Business Assistance, Clean Water State Revolving Loan and Nonpoint Source Pollution programs with LDEQ for more than 33 years. While at LDEQ and in addition to his most recent role, Mr. Sharafkhani worked as an Administrator in Business, Community Outreach and Incentive Division , and in the Waste Division where he started as an engineer, promoted to engineering supervisor, engineering manager, and division Administrator. Prior to LDEQ, he also held engineering positions with Woodward Clyde Consultants and the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. Mr. Sharafkhani is a licensed Professional Civil and Environmental Engineer in Louisiana, and is a former board member and chair of the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. He is a member of the Louisiana Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and currently serves as the Vice Chair of Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Central, Louisiana.
