Ron Noble, President of Noble Consultants-G.E.C., Inc., was recently elected a Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the highest distinction given by the ASCE to its members.
Mr. Noble has been honored by ASCE for his contributions as an outstanding leader in the engineering profession by being named to the 2015 Class of Distinguished Members. According to the society’s bylaws, this honor is awarded to members who have attained “acknowledged eminence in some branch of engineering.”
Mr. Noble is a registered civil engineer and a Diplomate in Coastal Engineering, in Port Engineering and in Water Resources Engineering. He was previously honored with ASCE’s International Coastal Engineering Award, the John G. Moffatt-Frank E. Nichol Harbor, and Coastal Engineering Award. Among his other professional honors and recognitions is the ASBPA Morrough P. O’Brien Award.
Mr. Noble is a past President of the Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and River Institute (COPRI) of ASCE, is a past Technical Region Board of Governor of ASCE, is on the Board of Trustees and Past President of the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) of CEC, and is on the Board of Directors of Civil Engineering Certification, Inc. (CEC). He serves on numerous boards for other engineering organizations including the Coastal Engineering Research Council, the Association of Coastal Engineers, the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association and the California Shore and Beach Preservation Association. He served as chairman of an American Nuclear Society Committee that developed an American National Standard on Design Basis Flooding at Power Reactor Sites, was a member of the ANS Committee on Site Evaluation of Power Reactor Sites, and was the U.S. Expert Representative on the International Atomic Energy Agency Committee (IAEA) for Development of the International Standard on Design Basis Floods for Nuclear Power Plants on Coastal Sites.
Mr. Noble was formally inducted during the ASCE’s annual convention October 11-14, 2015 in New York City. ASCE represents more than 146,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide and is the oldest national engineering society in the U.S. Since its founding in 1852, ASCE has named only 637 honorary/distinguished members.
