Brian Buckel joined GEC as Senior Vice President of Construction after 32 years of service with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. While with the Department, he was involved with construction projects concerning some of the most traveled roads in Louisiana, working with the public, media, and challenges of major construction in confined areas. He has an extensive background in roadway and bridge construction and repairs, along with LADOTD Policy and Procedures.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Buckel worked tirelessly, helping to restore the hard-hit Greater New Orleans area transportation system. His dedication and leadership utilizing the Acrow Panel Bridge replacement on the I-10 Twin Spans, numerous movable bridges, and the huge debris removal operations helped to expedite the recovery process. In some circles, Brian was known as “Mr. Hurricane” for his “above and beyond” efforts.
At GEC, Mr. Buckel is responsible for the oversight and management of the firm’s Construction Division. He oversees GEC’s construction management functions for multiple critical infrastructure improvement projects, including the I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana and the I-10/Loyola Interchange Design-Build in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
Mr. Buckel is a Professional Engineer and is licensed in the states of Louisiana and Mississippi. He earned his degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
